ALL ABOARD
I hope you are ready to try the NOTCH-8 Experience. My name is John Bennett. I live in a small town in Southeast Georgia called Richmond Hill, just minutes from downtown Savannah, Georgia. Living in Coastal Georgia, we are known for our Southern Cooking and delicious Seafood. We are not known for our BBQ. I am hoping to change that and put our area on the map.
I have only begun smoking BBQ and have already developed a passion for it. My cooking experience began in 1985 when I joined the Marine Corps. My recruiter told me I was going to be a Combat Engineer however, I was appointed a new job by my Drill Instructor. He said “Bennett Cook!” So I reluctantly became a cook for the United States Marine Corps. I took a liking to cooking right from the beginning.
After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps for 4 years (1985-1989), I spent 10 years in the Automobile Business, from operating my own dealership to sales professional. Presently, I am a Locomotive Engineer for CSX Railroad. I have been with them for the past 9 years. I mainly got involved with cooking BBQ, catering at festivals, and events from the overwhelming support and demand from my railroad brothers and neighbors.
Last year a recipe for an adequate BBQ Sauce was passed on to me. With some little bit of this and a little bit of that and some tweaking here and tweaking there. I bring to you the sauce that is now known as NOTCH-8 BBQ Sauce.
My sauce is often described as sweet, tangy, fruity and a little subtle but has a pleasant kick for a delightful BBQ taste. Many have referred to my sauce as “A taste like I’ve never tasted before.”
The name NOTCH-8 stems from the locomotive industry. Locomotives have 8-Notch positions or gears. 1 through 8, 1 being the lowest and 8 being the highest, hence the term NOTCH-8 or Full Throttle.
I hope after trying NOTCH-8 BBQ Sauce you to will enjoy a Full Throttle BBQ Taste! I look forward to hearing from you and hearing your opinion on my NOTCH-8 BBQ Sauce or just if you wish to chat about cooking, trains or just about anything.
John Bennett
